Jose Estragos Vol 2

Spanish Reslo fan, user, collector & all round Reslo fiend Jose Estragos has some good news to report with the release of his latest recordings entitled "Vol 2", less than 6 months from his first (proper 60s breakneck speed).

According to Jose these new recordings hark back to a time when songs were "made from the heart and not a calculator". To accompany the release there were be some promo films shot, no doubt with so great Reslos featured, as well as a release of Vol 1 on vinyl.

The recording sessions took place in various studios including a highlight at Abbey Road Stusios in London. There will be some interesting sounds to be heard emanating from Hammond & Vox Continental organs, sitars, 12 strings guitars, Vox amps, tons of vintage recording equipment & of course Reslo microphones.

Some dates are to be lined up in England at the Cavern Club, USA as well as at FNAC in Zaragoza, Marbella and Malaga.

Reportedly one of the Cavern Club's Reslo Microphone up for auction £4,000+ !

So, how do you fancy bidding £4,000+ (yes, four grand plus) on a Reslo RB Ribbon Microphone reported to come from the original Cavern Club?

Well now you can over at Paul Fraser Collectables Auctions. They are having a Beatles/Cavern Club memorabilia auction also including, wait for it...a strand of Macca's hair! PFC memorablilia auctions

The mic in question is said to come from Nigel Greenberg's personal collection. Nigel Greenberg was co-owner of the Cavern Sound recording studio which was based in an adjoining empty cellar to the Cavern Club.

Sellers PFC Auctions also have a signed letter from Nigel Greenberg which accompanies the mic, part of which states: “At the time that the Cavern closed in February 1966, following Ray McFall’s bankruptcy, we had one of the Cavern’s Reslo ribbon microphones in our studio for repair to its cable...the Reslo ribbon microphone which was [sic] been in my possession ever since."

...whisper it quietly but this Reslo looks a little too clean to be an actual Cavern mic...hhmmm, as always the old adage rings true...
