The mic in question is said to come from Nigel Greenberg's personal collection. Nigel Greenberg was co-owner of the Cavern Sound recording studio which was based in an adjoining empty cellar to the Cavern Club.

Sellers PFC Auctions also have a signed letter from Nigel Greenberg which accompanies the mic, part of which states: “At the time that the Cavern closed in February 1966, following Ray McFall’s bankruptcy, we had one of the Cavern’s Reslo ribbon microphones in our studio for repair to its cable...the Reslo ribbon microphone which was [sic] been in my possession ever since."
...whisper it quietly but this Reslo looks a little too clean to be an actual Cavern mic...hhmmm, as always the old adage rings true...
