Another batch of Reslosound Ribbon Microphones XLR microphone cables being made up and ready to go out to our new and existing valued customers. Feel free to contact us for any specific lengths.

All of our XLR cables use Van Damme Cable (as used by the likes of Abbey Road Studios, BBC, PRS Guitars, Jack White, Jimmy Page and countless others) and Neutrik connectors.

(Please note these cables terminate in two Neutrik XX series XLR connectors, not the Reslo connector, those are available separately.)

Reslo & Rod Stewart

Reslo & Rod Stewart at the Marquee Club, London

"Who's that?" you're asking, well, yes you're right, it's none other than Rod "The Mod" Stewart in his 60s glory. There is some great vintage footage courtesy of BBC One's "Imagine" documentary series & the British Film Institue available online.

The BBC's "Imagine" programme featured an original programme from the 60s that focused on Rod Stewart when he was just starting out as a performer and was still living at home. Some of those early scenes were shot at the legendary Marquee in London and featuring Reslo RB Ribbon Microphones.

"Nowhere Boy" John Lennon biopic

Once again UK viewers got some Reslosound action this past Sunday when "Nowhere Boy" had it's UK terrestrial premiere on Channel 4, who also helped finance the film. Sam Taylor Wood's biopic about a young John Lennon and the women who shaped his pre-Beatles life, namely his aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas), who raised him and his absentee mother Julie (Anne-Marie Duff) who re-enters his life.

Aaron Johnson plays John Lennon and is depicted in a number of scenes performing in "his" band The Quarrymen (the official stance on Quarrymen or Quarry Men here: The Original Quarrymen website). Later he is joined in the band by Paul McCartney (Thomas Sangster) as well as George Harrison (Sam Bell). These scenes are really well designed with great art direction and attention to detail including correct era clothing, stage setup, instruments and of course Reslo Ribbon Microphones.

More pictures from the film and the originals which inspired the film design on the Reslo flickr page here: Reslo & The Beatles flickr set

Reslo - John Mayall's Blues Breakers 1968

Reslo CR Ribbon Microphone - John Mayall's Blues Breakers live at the Falmer campus, Brighton University, May 1968.
What a great photograph this is!

John Mayall - Vocals, Harmonica, Guitar, Hammond Organ & Reslo Ribbon Microphone
Keith Tillman - Bass
Keef Hartley - Drums & hat
Dick Heckstall-Smith - Alto & Tenor Saxophone
Mick Taylor - Guitar & future Rolling Stones member

Although often known as John Mayall's Blues Breakers, only one record (Bare Wires 1968) of the three records made during Mick Taylor tenure was credited as such. The other two (Crusade 1967 & Blues from Laurel Canyon 1968) were billed simply as John Mayall.

Ribbon microphones, both vintage and new, are in daily use throughout the world by well known established studios and broadcasters as well as in personal home studios. Some of the most influential and seminal recordings ever made, were recorded with ribbon microphones.

Two examples:
#1 Jimi Hendrix's guitar - recorded with a ribbon microphone.
#2 John Bonham's drums - recorded with a ribbon microphone.

'nuff said!
